DIARFEST: JOSEPH SHAMI WITH THE BAND LIVE, DJ ELTO, HANADISGARAGE & TUTKU

When the oud meets the drum machine, the Hamburg collective Diarfest is not far away. After two successful summer festival editions, traditional forms will be rethought again this evening: with the album "Warak Sham" (Al Jazzaf Recordings), Syrian composer and oud master Joseph Shami (Al Jazzaf) brings a project to the stage that transfers Arabic musical traditions and Sufi poetry into a contemporary club context. Shami sees his music as a bridge between cultures, rooted in ancient poetry with resonance in the present.

Together with producer Dennis Netto and guitarist Salim Zahra, Joseph Shami with The Band will bring the club up to temperature in a live concert before the party continues: DJ Elto from Leipzig combines Afrohouse and Arab sounds with melodic techno; and Hamburg-based Hanadi aka Hanadisgarage (founding member of Diarfest) and Tutku bring RnB edits, house, baile funk and SWANA influences to the dance floor. In the spirit of Diarfest, this evening tells a story of identity and connection with every beat.
