A striking panorama of the last century of German history set in a house on a lake in the Mark Brandenburg: the setting for the stories and life journeys of its successive owners and their fates, which are intertwined and shaped by monumental historical events. The residents experience the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich, the war and its end, the GDR, and the period of reunification, all while searching for a home and a sense of belonging.

*HEIMSUCHUNG* is a microcosm of German history in which displacement and loss, home and origin, repression and memory coalesce into human and historical dramas. Alongside striking images of nature and human destinies, the film traces a precise chronicle of a century. Legendary director Volker Schlöndorff, who won an Oscar and the Palme d’Or at Cannes for his film adaptation of Günter Grass’s novel *The Tin Drum*, now turns his attention once again to a novel spanning a century.
