On Wednesday, December 11, at 8:00 pm, the "Asociación de Guitarra Clásica Ángel G. Piñero" presents the concert "The Magic of the Guitar - Classical Music from Spain and Europe" in the Chamber Music Hall of the Beethoven Haus, Bonn." The award-winning guitarist Stanislav Steshenko (Ukraine) will perform as soloist, while the excellent string quartet HANA (Munich) will join him in the second part of the concert. Bonn will thus be the first German city to join a long list of cities in Spain and other parts of the world to honor the classical Spanish guitar and the work of the composer and performer from Cádiz, Ángel G. Piñero. A passionate lover of his Andalusian hometown and Spain, Piñero developed unique technical and expressive skills with the instrument to which he dedicated his life. He thus became one of the best ambassadors of the Spanish classical guitar. His numerous instruction books are also sold in this country.
In the last years of his life, Piñero focused more intensively on his role as a composer. His aim was to create repertoire for young artists and to enrich the heritage of the classical guitar. He composed 6 works for guitar and orchestra, 8 for guitar and string quartet, 22 for guitar alone and 3 for guitar and voice. On March 24, 2022, on the occasion of Ángel Piñero's 90th birthday, there was a big concert at the Teatro Real, Madrid. It was a turning point in the dissemination of his work. Since then, dozens of concerts have taken place in various cities in Spain, France, Italy and Latin America and many more are planned in the coming years thanks to the commitment of Catherine Lacoste, his wife and president of the "Asociación de Guitarra Clásica Ángel G. Piñero". Lacoste, daughter of the French tennis legend and founder of the fashion company of the same name René Lacoste, has set herself the goal of promoting her husband's music and young talents with the help of the foundation. The chamber music hall of the Beethoven Haus in Bonn will be the stage on which the Ukrainian guitarist Stanislav Steshenko, winner of more than 40 competitions, and the quartet HANA, also a multiple award-winner and consisting of the musicians Gyurim Kwak, Fuga Miwatashi, Simon Rosier and Tzu-Shao Chao, will inspire with their art on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. In addition to works by Ángel G. Piñero, works by other European composers such as Antonio Vivaldi, Napoléon Coste, Miguel Llobet, Malcolm Arnold, Luigi Boccherini and others will be performed to match the international line-up of artists.
