She is a phenomenon: Anna Lapwood. In recent years, probably no one has attracted as much attention to the organ, an instrument that is often regarded as uncool, old-fashioned or stolid, as she has. Because she has understood that the instrument with the highest volume and widest range can be presented wonderfully on social media. And she also demonstrates the artistic feats associated with playing the organ. The 30-year-old Brit, who has been the official organist of London's Royal Albert Hall since May 2025, now has around 1.5 million followers on both TikTok and Instagram. This means she easily leaves all the big names in the classical music scene in her wake and is reaching dimensions that are otherwise only achieved by artists from the pop scene. She herself comments on the hype rather succinctly: "I'm just trying to share my own enthusiasm for the instrument and the music I play." Perhaps this is also part of her success: Anna Lapwood takes her audience seriously and seeks to connect with people in a very analog way with charming moderations at her concerts.
