Pure classical music in the heart of Dresden: On June 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., experience an hour of heavenly music at the Kreuzkirche. The Kreuzchor Vespers for the Feast of St. John bring together the Dresden Kreuzchor and the Dresden Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann. This first-class live music offers the perfect experience for a relaxing weekend.
The program blends tradition and modernity. The highlight is J. S. Bach’s cantata “Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam” (BWV 7), featuring soloists Marlen Bieber, Stephan Scherpe, and Martin Schicketanz. The program also features works by Krätzschmar, Schütz, Nisini, Mendelssohn, and Franck. Ludwig Haenchen and Holger Gehring will perform on the organ.
A highlight is the presentation of the Rudolf Mauerberger Scholarship. Endowed with 5,000 euros, this award from the “Dresdner Kreuzchor Support Foundation” has been supporting young talents on their path to professional careers since 1991.
