A widowed master chef wants to provide a good home for his three daughters, but has withdrawn inwardly, so that even Sunday lunch has become a rather mute ritual. He also suffers from the fact that he wants to tell them about a decision that will plunge them into confusion and disappointment.
With subtlety and great affection for the characters, the film describes human emotions that are out of balance and make communication between the generations difficult.
