Fachtag: Antisemitismus im Netz – Herausforderungen und Handlungsmöglichkeiten

As part of the “Internet Policy and Democracy” action days organized by the State Centers and the Federal Agency for Civic Education, and as part of the Tacheles Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony, the participating institutions are hosting a conference addressing the issue of antisemitism online. The event is aimed at key influencers in the fields of political education and media literacy from schools and universities, civil society organizations, representatives of government institutions, as well as an interested and engaged, internet-savvy audience drawn from across society.

The conference aims to raise awareness of how antisemitism manifests online and to show participants ways to counter this phenomenon. As a first step, we will examine the spread of antisemitism online and the underlying logic and mechanisms using study results and analytical tools from the academic community. This will be followed by a panel discussion focusing on the experiences of Jewish people who are themselves active in the fields of social media and digitalization. In the second part of the conference, the focus will be on successful approaches to addressing antisemitism in the digital space. To this end, we will examine various strategies for educational intervention and sustainable prevention drawn from educational work critical of antisemitism.
