"Fahnenweihe" is the fourth installment in the regional crime series about emeritus Munich history professor Gregor Cornelius. The setting is once again Neukirchen, a Lower Bavarian village not far from Landshut.
The whole of Neukirchen is eagerly awaiting the flag dedication of the local shooting club, which is to be celebrated with a big party in a few months' time. Preparations are already in full swing. Gregor Cornelius gladly agrees to write the club's commemorative publication and travels to Lower Bavaria full of anticipation.
But then, during an evening walk, he finds the body of the young and beautiful flag bride Elena Ziegler in the village stream. Is there ultimately a connection to the series of burglaries that have kept Neukirchen in suspense for some time and in which the perpetrator is acting with increasing ruthlessness and violence? And what role is played by the patron of the flag dedication, the shady mayor of Altenberg, Alfons Leidinger, and the unknown man with whom Elena met shortly before her death? Before Cornelius can draw the right conclusions, he finds himself in mortal danger and is horrified to realize that he is looking into the deepest abyss of the human soul.
Karoline Eisenschenk will be presenting her books at the MACHart Festival on May 24 + 25. On 25.05.2025 at 13.00 she will read from "Fahnenweihe" in room 4.
