feeLit 2026: Dana von Suffrin - Toxibaby
Moderation: Hannes Huß
Language: German
"The worst romance novel of all time"
Dana von Suffrin is one of the most idiosyncratic and sharpest voices in contemporary German-language literature. At feeLit. she will be reading from her new novel "Toxibaby". It is a novel about the search for love that heals us - and that can destroy us. In it, Dana von Suffrin tells of a relationship that wants everything: salvation, knowledge, redemption - and dissects the inability of an entire generation to relate with narrative power.
Dana von Suffrin, born in Munich in 1985, is a writer and historian. She studied in Munich, Naples and Jerusalem and wrote her doctoral thesis on the role of science and ideology in early Zionism. Her novels "Otto" and "Nochmal von vorne" have already won numerous awards, including the Klaus Michael Kühne Prize, the Ernst Hoferichter Prize, the Tukan Prize and the Chamisso Prize. She lives in Munich.
"Toxibaby makes you laugh out loud, nod in agreement, and sometimes you have a lump in your throat because it hurts so much." Sara Peschke, Süddeutsche Zeitung, March 17, 2026
"Dana von Suffrin's new novel about a relationship full of psychological violence, inherited guilt and good outfits comes across as fluffy pop culture, but is a finely told story of damaged lives" Anna Weiss, FAS, March 15, 2026
