Europe remastered - Miljenko Jergovic in conversation with Barbi Markovic
Language: German
Miljenko Jergović was awarded the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding for his book "Das verrückte Herz/ Sarajevo Marlboro remastered". The laudatory speech was held by the author Barbi Marković, who was awarded the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for her novel "Minihorror". In Heidelberg at feeLit., the two will meet again and take the audience to the heart of Europe and the fault lines of Balkan history. A special encounter between two literary voices, each of which would be an event in itself.
Born in Sarajevo in 1966, Jergović is one of the most important authors of the former Yugoslavia. The writer, poet and essayist has lived in Zagreb since 1993 and writes regularly as a political columnist for Croatian and international media. His latest work "The Crazy Heart" is the follow-up and twin volume to Sarajevo Marlboro, with 29 new stories from besieged Sarajevo.
"Miljenko Jergović is a grand master of storytelling. What he achieves in his stories is nothing less than brilliant - his great research and its implications for our present, his work on a small scale, the originality and power of his observations, his sympathetic wit, his fine sense of characters and suspense. I'm jealous, I love him so much."
