Focus on Lucas Brum: HfMT BigBand feat. Sophia Oster Quartett arr. by Lucas Brum (JazzHall SummerFestival)
In the organizer's words:
The Sophia Oster Quartet joins forces with the HfMT Hamburg Big Band—the focus here is not on a single featured artist, but on an established ensemble with its own distinctive sound. For this project, Brazilian guitarist and arranger Lucas Brum has specially rearranged Sophia Oster’s compositions for big band, expanding the quartet’s sound with orchestral dimensions. In contrast to traditional big band formats, where individual soloists take center stage, the quartet remains an artistic unit here. Improvisation, interaction, and the ensemble’s evolving dynamics form the starting point for the arrangements and enter into a lively dialogue with the large ensemble.
+ Aftershow DJ Set: Deux Pains Inspired by the old and the new, the producer duo Deux Pains creates an organic sound that lies somewhere between hip hop, soul, El Michel’s Affairs, and The Avalanches—unconventional and laid-back. Denny Seidel – Sampler, Prophet 5 Tilman Fehse – Juno-X, drum machine
