the place "where graphics are at home..." is launching a new series:
Treasures of printmaking are created in our print workshop, often by people who have been developing their graphic oeuvre here for a long time. The works become public in window displays. We cordially invite you to go window shopping and start with
Francesca Casale has been developing her printmaking work at the Kölner Graphikwerkstatt since 2008. The fine, multi-layered works show an interplay of various classical intaglio printing techniques such as copperplate engraving, mezzotint, etching etc..
Her pictorial language shows structures that are traces of life, both large and small. These traces are not only signs of the concrete here and now, but also tell of experiences and memories, and are thus anchored in time. Even if we are not necessarily aware of them individually, these layers shape our perception of the world.
The layering of traces and time is expressed in the combination of different printing plates, which merge almost floatingly into a whole.
