rant
Merle Bennett and Torsten Papenheim have been performing together as rant since 2003. In their
pieces developed together, rant explore the possibilities of duo performance and
create their own
distinctive musical language. rant play music that suggests, expands, and
rejection. Each of their compositions directly describes a specific
musical world.
In February 2026, the Austrian label GOD Records released *apolonien*,
in February 2026. Over the course of a little over a year
, Merle Bennett and Torsten Papenheim conceived the two pieces on the album,
rehearsed, performed, and recorded them. Two organically evolved compositions that
take their time and give each individual idea plenty of room to develop. Forms of abstract beauty that resonate in the present: *saumselig* for percussion and guitar, and *seligsaum* for paper and cardboard objects.
