Halla (Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir) is a choir director—an independent, warm-hearted, and somewhat introverted woman. But behind the facade of a leisurely routine, she leads a double life as a passionate environmental activist. Known by the alias “The Mountain Woman,” she secretly wages a one-woman war against the national aluminum industry. Only through acts of vandalism and, ultimately, industrial sabotage does she succeed in halting negotiations between the Icelandic government and an international investor. But then the approval of an adoption application that had almost been forgotten throws Halle’s straightforward plans off course. Determined, she plans her final and boldest action as the savior of the Icelandic highlands.
