We were all born, we will all die. The cornerstones of our lives connect us, yet they are pushed out of our social center. Photographer and author Annika Eliane Krause accompanied nine women during the birth of their children or during their own illness and death. In front of the camera and in personal conversations, she consciously and self-determinedly prepares the protagonists for their personal border crossings.
The result is a book that touchingly brings together the transitions at the beginning and end of life. The women's honest self-exposure breaks with social taboos and preserves the dignity of those portrayed at every moment. Based on the deep relationship of trust between the author and the people portrayed, a multi-layered picture emerges of the female view of life and death.
