In the organizer's words:
A Baroque music festival during the Christmas season: Alessandro Scarlatti’s “Cantata pastorale per la Natività di Nostro Signore Gesù Cristo” (1695), which premiered on Christmas Eve at the Apostolic Palace, is one of the most impressive—and yet rarely performed—works of the Baroque era. Recitatives,
arioso passages, and pastoral musical symbolism condense the Christmas narrative into a contemplative meditation. The acclaimed French ensemble Les Accents, under Thibault Noally, performs with stylistic clarity; the solo parts are sung by
of the highest international standing: Bruno de Sá, Cecilia Molinari, and Marie-Nicole Lemieux.
