HIER=JETZT 2026 Open Space 1 und 2

The 11th edition of "HERE = NOW", the platform for contemporary dance. The Artist for Artist initiative, which was created out of nothing by Birgitta Trommler and Johanna Richter in 2016, is now the platform for promoting young choreographers and dancers in Munich, and a unique format in Germany!

For two weeks from March 30 to April 12, 2026, 8 participants selected by a jury from a large number of applications from local, national and international choreographers will be provided with free studios at Tanztendenz e.V., schwere reiter and a residency at Tanzprojekt München for rehearsals. This allows them to work in an open laboratory under professional conditions for piece development and gives them the opportunity to try out and discuss their work beyond budget and production pressure.

Finally, their work sketches will be presented to the public as a work in progress on two evenings in two different "Open Space" performances.

Following the performance evening, audience discussions will take place between the participating artists and interested viewers.

"Open Space 2":

The performance will be followed by an audience discussion with the artists and the awarding of the audience prize, which is again linked to a three-month work grant sponsored by the Norbert Janssen Foundation.

"HIER=JETZT" is a format of Tanztendenz München e.V., is directed by Johanna Richter and Birgitta Trommler, funded by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich, the BLZT (Bavarian State Association for Contemporary Dance with funds from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts), the Migration Advisory Board of the City of Munich and private donors. In cooperation with a residency at Tanzprojekt München, as an event of schwere reiter tanz, and with technical support from Macromedia University.
