Fabienne Hübener: Suspended Fourth
In the organizer's words:
6:30 p.m. Opening reception with an aperitif and musical accompaniment by Marty Cook (trombone) and Gunnar Geisse (laptop guitar)
John Coltrane’s music serves as the starting point for paintings that emerge from movement. While listening to compositions such as “Equinox” or “Sun Ship,” Fabienne Hübener develops improvised movements from which the paintings subsequently emerge. It is not the music itself that becomes visible, but rather the physical experience of listening. The works emerge from the tension between openness and structure. They sustain the moment of the unformed—that state in which movement, energy, and perception are not yet fixed and from which something new can emerge. Fabienne Hübener works as a painter and performer and explores movement, perception, and the connections between the senses. Her background as a neurobiologist shapes her analytical perspective on perception. In her painting, she seeks above all an intuitive approach: the immediate experience, the unexpected impulse, and the connection between body, sound, and image.
