Workshop with Buba Sababa

This König workshop is part of the HOMOWORK community project and invites you to explore your own drag practice. Together we will explore what drag can mean - individually, collectively and beyond fixed categories. The focus is on character development and performative approaches: How is a character created? What drives it, how does it move, how does it perform? The starting point will be your own ideas, mood boards and initial concepts. The workshop is aimed at anyone who would like to deepen or rediscover drag. Welcome to König!

Important information: Participants will receive a questionnaire in advance and must create a mood board to bring to the workshop.

König is a Drag King community building project. The world of Drag is big and beautiful. There are many words for Drag and many people who does Drag or something similar to it. Together, we will explore and try to understand what Drag means to you!
In this workshop, we will focus on character development and the performative aspect of Drag.

We ask you to dedicate some time before the workshop to come prepared in order to make the best out of it! We are looking forward to meeting you. Welcome to König!

Buba Sababa is one of the formative figures of the Berlin drag king revolution, leads community workshops for aspiring drag kings and enables new king performers to gain their first stage experience at the monthly show König, which she founded herself.
