ICHOCHROMATA – The Colors of Sounds | Überschlag Festival 2026

In the organizer's words:

A performance about the colors of hearing - and the stories that lie hidden within them.

With ICHOCHROMATA, Greek percussionist and performer Zoi Argyriou is developing a concert evening in which sound, movement, light and identity merge into a multi-layered artistic experience. The program unites exclusively works by female composers and opens up new perspectives on the present, the body, society and artistic expression.

Zoi Argyriou belongs to a generation of female musicians who move naturally between contemporary music, performance, improvisation and interdisciplinary art forms. In ICHOCHROMATA, she sees music not as an abstract sound event, but as a space for memories, emotions, social issues and personal stories.

Each work of the evening is assigned a color and opens up its own perspective on the world: white stands for movement and transformation, pink for digital self-images and social expectations, black for resistance, visibility and self-assertion, dark red for strength, memory and cultural imprint.

Works by Ilona Perger, Marta Śniady, Tamara Miller and Sara Glojnarić will be performed. Together with soprano Mirto Kaitanidou, Zoi Argyriou combines marimba, percussion, electronics, video and voice to create a concert format that is as sensual as it is political.
