INGEBORG BACHMANN - JEMAND, DER EINMAL ICH WAR
D/AT 2026 - 95' - DF - Director: Regina Schilling
In a poetic search for clues, director Regina Schilling lets the audience participate in the creation of art: Actress Sandra Hüller approaches the life of Ingeborg Bachmann on an imaginary day and lends her words a haunting presence. With an artful interweaving of improvised scenes, archive treasures, interviews and Bachmann's own texts, the film traces the central phases of the author's life - from her wartime childhood in Carinthia, her rise to stardom with Group 47 and her final days in Rome. The path is marked by her complicated relationships with Paul Celan, Hans Werner Henze and Max Frisch and a relentless struggle for her own radical language between public fame and existential crises.
On the 100th anniversary of Ingeborg Bachmann's birth, Regina Schilling succeeds in creating a sensual and intellectual approach to one of the most important writers of the 20th century. Thanks to Sandra Hüller's powerful interpretation and masterful archive montages, Bachmann's power of language can be experienced directly in the cinema. INGEBORG BACHMANN - JEMAND, DER EINMAL ICH WAR is a cinematic portrait that celebrates the fragility and power of an artist who defied all attempts to appropriate her and whose work still has a visionary force today.
