JAZZKOMBINAT HAMBURG FEAT. JOE GALLARDO
The Jazzkombinat Hamburg represents the pulsating generation of young jazz musicians in Hamburg. The 21-member ensemble has set itself the task of networking these musicians in a supra-regional collective. To this end, it regularly invites guests from all over Europe to Hamburg to work on and perform their music together with the band. In addition, the Jazzkombinat sees itself as a platform for young arrangers and composers and attaches great importance to artistically high-quality and creative programs, which are written to suit the project. The 21 musicians stand for the highest soloistic level, expressive ensemble playing and have established the Jazzkombinat as an integral part of the German jazz scene. For this concert, trombonist Joe Gallardo returns to his longtime home in Hamburg. While here he was primarily first trombonist of the NDR Bigband, he previously played in the bands of Stan Kenton, Mel Lewis, Peter Herbolzheimer, and Kai Winding, among others, and was briefly featured as pianist in Chet Baker's formation.
This year's project is sponsored by the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media, as well as the Hamburg Cultural Foundation through the Zillmer Cultural Foundation under its umbrella.
