It's not every day that a jam session is opened by a big band. At Jazzorama, it happens every four months with the in-house Jazzorama Big Band!
The band plays a new program with different guests each time and offers everything you could wish for from a big band. Juicy brass voicings, loud, quiet, swing, groove, blues and of course sustainability! Because here, musical energy is generated completely CO2-neutral and without electrical amplification through physical effort, in keeping with the ecological idea.
This time, the newly crowned WDR Jazz Prize winner Caris Hermes will be performing. The double bass player has been in great demand for years as a reliable and virtuoso sidewoman. Last year, she released her debut album under her own name. Since then, she has been making a name for herself more and more as a bandleader. The Jazzorama Big Band will not only feature the bassist as a soloist. There will also be some of Caris Hermes' compositions in brand new arrangements by the two leaders of the big band, Marc Doffey and Ole Sinell.
