GHOST DOG - THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI
Director: Jim Jarmusch
USA 1999, 116 min., OV English with German subtitles, Blu-ray projection
With: Forest Whitaker, John Tormey, Cliff Gorman, Henry Silva, Isaach de Bankolé, Victor Argo, Tricia Vessey, Gene Ruffini
Ghost Dog (Forest Whitaker) lives above the world - in a self-built hut next to a dovecote, on the roof of an abandoned building. He is a professional killer and wanders the city silently and unseen, becoming one with the night. His guide is an old code of conduct of the Japanese samurai warrior caste. When his life is dramatically threatened by a dysfunctional mafia family that occasionally calls on his services, he reacts strictly according to the code: the way of the samurai.
After DEAD MAN, Jim Jarmusch has once again staged the story of a killer, played by Forest Whitaker, with the suggestive rap of RZA and the Wu-Tang Clan as the musical backdrop and the metropolis of New York as the backdrop.
