Kino-Matinee in Kooperation mit Schauburg Filmpalast

As part of the exhibition “Radical Hope: Art and Labor Struggles” at the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen:

The film *We Want Sex* ( directed by Nigel Cole, 2010, 108 min.) uses British humor to tell the story of the strike by female garment workers at the Ford plant in Dagenham, who, led by Rita, demand better working conditions and equal pay. Despite resistance from their supervisors and their own families, the women wage a courageous labor struggle that ultimately achieves historic significance for gender equality.

1:15 p.m.: Reception in the foyer of the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen and a brief introduction on the topic of women’s labor struggles in Dagenham and the Ruhr region by Anna Seidel (Fritz-Hüser Institute for Literature and Culture of the Working World, Dortmund).

2:00 p.m.: Interactive exhibition tour with Julia Höner & Friederike Sigler
