The “Club of Wonderful Women—Klub cudownych kobiet” from Berlin
is presenting the bilingual
"Better—Lepiej—Stories of
Female Emigrants," accompanied by a performative reading as well as the photo
and collage exhibition “WIDZIANE.” The Polish women living in Berlin
are creatively active under the leadership of Beata Zuzanna Borawska as part of the
“Herstory” movement. The first result of this work
is the bilingual collection “Lepiej: Stories by Women Immigrants
(translated into German by Dr. Agata Jagna Czarkowska), published in
May 2025 by KLAK Publishing. For each text by the seven authors,
Agnieszka Karaś has created collages using analog techniques, which
are also an integral part of the book.

Is it difficult for a woman to identify herself as a writer
? And what does this word mean—how does it shape
of a character, her attitude, and her life circumstances? Karolina Bąk, in
collaboration with Agnieszka Ogrodniczak and Aneta Jenis Dolega, she conducted a
photo shoot for the “Club of Wonderful Women” and
in the process created images that capture the uniqueness of the moment,
the character and dynamism of each individual author, as well as the
“certain something” that defines Berlin. “Nothing
about us without us”—this feminist credo has long since ceased to be
just a form of rebellion or a manifesto, but the feeling that we have the
have the freedom to express ourselves. As it turns out, it has not only
culturally formative and political power, but often therapeutic power as well. It
ensures that we feel visible, heard, and valued.
During the event, we will read excerpts from texts by Beata
Zuzanna Borawska, Basia Borowska, Agata Jagna Czarkowska, Natalia
Ragini, Joanna Kańdulska, Magdalena Deniz, and Agnieszka Karaś.

“Klub cudownych kobiet” from Berlin presents, as part of POLISH WEEKEND at
Europolis.Haus, a bilingual collection of short stories titled “Besser - Lepiej -
