Konzert der Potsdamer Orchesterwoche
In the organizer's words:
Under the direction of Matthias Salge, the orchestra of the Potsdam Orchestra Week presents a program that transcends borders - geographically, culturally and musically.
The program opens with Florence Price's Concert Overture No. 2, composed of three spirituals that are among the most haunting testimonies to the African-American musical tradition. This is followed by Charles Villiers Stanford's Irish Rhapsody No. 1 - a passionate homage to Irish folk music.
The crowning finale is Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" - one of the most frequently performed and most popular works of orchestral literature.
Three composers, three cultures, one evening. 🎶
