Kuir Art Festival // İÇ İÇE x NEOLA art projects e.V.

On October 11 and 12, 2024, a special collaboration will bring together the Cologne-based cultural association NEOLA art projects e.V. and the Berlin-based İÇ İÇE Festival at the Kulturbunker Köln-Mülheim to celebrate Anatolian music culture and queer-feminist art under the name Kuir Art Fest. İÇ İÇE means "intertwined" or "interwoven" in Turkish. Following its annual Berlin summer edition, the festival for new Anatolian music is coming to Cologne in October, where it will find a home for the weekend in the renowned Kulturbunker.

To kick off the festival on 11 October, the İÇ İÇE Festival will present the pre-event BİZ BİZE (German: unter uns), a program to accompany the vernissage. On this evening, guests from the fields of music, art and activism will create an exciting program that strengthens the community, acts as a platform for discourse and offers a stage for newcomers in particular.

Look forward to a festival day on 12.10. with a diverse program featuring Gaye Su Akyol, SINEM, Hêja Netirk, Berivan Kaya, Katscha and many more. Part of the Kuir Art Fest is also the exhibition Queerreality - New Realms of Surrealism, curated by NEOLA art projects e.V., a non-profit cultural association based in Cologne, which is committed to contemporary art and culture from Turkey and Germany.

On October 12, we invite you to celebrate Anatolian music culture in a spirit of solidarity. Music, performances, workshops and readings will create an exuberant atmosphere in the Kulturbunker. As a festival, we are also a platform for exchange for our visitors. Away from the expectations of the dominant society, communities of the diaspora come together to visualize and talk about life in the post-migrant society, multiple affiliations and the culture of remembrance.
