Lesefestival antifaschistische Literatur: Lese-Tagebücher zu Willi Bredel und Irmgard Keun. Mit Domenico Müllensiefen, Ronya Othmann und Lara Sielmann

The Nazi regime of terror became the subject of critical literary reflection early on. Nonfiction and contemporary novels were written that traced, in a style blending documentary and literary elements, everyday life and the transformation of society after 1933, as well as the increasing political repression and persecution of Jews. For the festival, Domenico Müllensiefen and Ronya Othmann are each writing a reading diary to document their re-reading of a classic anti-fascist novel. The works selected for this reading experiment are Willi Bredel’s *Dein unbekannter Bruder* and Irmgard Keun’s *Nach Mitternacht*. They will speak with Lara Sielmann about the genre of the reading diary, about the intersections and incongruities between the text and the present, and about the experience of rereading anti-fascist classics.
