"One of the most important works of my life," says Lisa Batiashvili about the Sibelius Violin Concerto, which she plays with incredible depth. For her, it sounds like a solitary monologue. The Finnish piece thus echoes the sad mood in Sio ("Wind") by her Georgian compatriot Gija Kantscheli. Mendelssohn's "Italian" Symphony then takes us to sunnier climes.
