Three psychopathic Vietnam veterans get together every year for a cozy weekend, bring the war home, kidnap a young couple and go on a manhunt. What they didn't count on: There's always an even bigger predator!

This is the basic premise of Peter Collinson's - best known for THE ITALIAN JOB (1969), FRIGHT (1971) - hard-hitting OPEN SEASON with its star-studded cast. Vietnam trauma, rape'n'revenge thriller, exploitation shocker - the film didn't have an easy time with the censorship authorities when it was released in 1974 and exists in several different versions. It wasn't even the level of violence itself that offended the censors, but rather the nihilistic tone and, similar to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974), a constant atmosphere of violence and menace that pervades the entire film. A true cult classic of its genre.
