Ludwig Blochberger performs "The Book of Those Killed by Neil Young" by Navid Kermani in Cologne. The concert reading promises a special combination of music and poetry that touches the heart and inspires reflection. The actor will read from the author's biographical story and play selected songs by Neil Young live on the guitar in a passionate solo performance.
NAVID KERMANI "The Book of Those Killed by Neil Young" is more than just the most beautiful, smartest, craziest book ever written about rock music - it's a hymn to life. It begins with the infamous three-month colic - night after night, the narrator's newborn daughter writhes in convulsions. The only effective antidote: the songs of Neil Young. For father and daughter, a journey begins through the Canadian musician's cosmos towards lost illusions and fleeting moments of happiness. Writer Navid Kermani interweaves the everyday life of a young family with the big questions of life with a light touch and, as if by chance, it becomes clear where fragments of paradise can still be found: not only in music.
ABENDZEITUNG Munich - Nov. 14, 2024
"The actor can of course perform well. But the former Viennese choirboy also has a very beautiful tenor voice and, above all, the right feeling for the music, and so the concept works brilliantly. A tour de force that can hardly be topped in terms of dramaturgy."
Ludwig Blochberger was born in East Berlin in 1982. As a Viennese choirboy, he came into contact with classical music at an early age. As a teenager, he appeared on stage at Vienna's Burgtheater under the direction of Claus Peymann and played alongside Armin Mueller-Stahl in the award-winning TV three-parter "Die Manns". During his studies at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, he filmed for "Sommersturm" (M. Kreuzpaintner), "Der letzte Zug" (J. Vilsmaier) and the Oscar-winning feature film "Das Leben der Anderen". Over the years, he has played Wernher von Braun (2009), Sebastian Haffner (2012), German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt (2013), Pope Innocent III (2014) and Rudolf Höss (2024). In the crime series "Kommissar Dupin" he plays Riwal (2013-15) in the new edition of the crime series "Der Alte" Commissioner Tom Kupfer (2015-2021). Ludwig Blochberger has been successfully touring the country since 2024 with the concert reading "Das Buch der von Neil Young Getöteten" to pay tribute to the music of the "Godfather of Grunge".
