Lukas Bärfuss: Königin der Nacht
In the organizer's words:
In a small Swiss town, a son grows up with his mother without his father—marked by poverty and a lack of emotional closeness. In his autobiographical essay, Lukas Bärfuss recounts the life of his mother—a woman torn between a desire for freedom, poverty, and social exclusion. Having grown up in poverty, she fights against the lack of prospects and security in 1970s Switzerland.
With unflinching honesty and deep emotion, the author looks back on his childhood and explores the questions of personal responsibility and social conditions. A powerful book about family, heritage, and social inequality.
Lukas Bärfussis a playwright, novelist, and outspoken journalist. His plays are performed worldwide, and his novels have been translated into twenty languages. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the 2019 Georg Büchner Prize. He lives in Zurich.
