Massuda Kassem: Chicken Survivor - Hühnchen süßsauer
In the organizer's words:
Ages 5 and up
True Crime from the Chicken Coop
Ah, how wonderful life is in the chicken coop when you’re part of the five-member flock in the Power family’s garden! Gisela, Trudi, Heidi, Ingrid—and our heroine Vindaloo, named after a fiery curry dish—are enjoying their lovingly furnished luxury enclosure to the fullest. But the idyll doesn’t last long: One day, a fox digs its way under the fence and wreaks havoc. Bravely, Vindaloo stands up to the attacker—but she is seriously injured and remains disabled from then on. Her zest for life remains unbroken, and soon she becomes a heroine once again, this time in the fight against a dangerous hawk. Filmmaker Massuda Kassem met Vindaloo in person and tells this true story with masterfully comedic flair—funny, cool, and delightfully headstrong. A superhero story featuring a chicken for all happy chickens and human chicken lovers!
Massuda Kassem, born in1973, can whistle on four fingers and plays table tennis at a mediocre level. She wrote down the “Chicken Survivor” story because she knows the chickens in question and their human family personally. She has also been producing music videos for many years and, more recently, feature films, such as the cult film “Heiko’s World,” and was shortlisted for the German-French Youth Literature Prize. She lives with her family in Berlin-Mitte.
