As the eighth of ten children, young Michael Jackson (Juliano Krue Valdi) is drilled for a career in music at an early age under the strict guidance of his father Joe (Colman Domingo). He celebrated his first successes with the family band Jackson Five, and at the age of 13 he embarked on a solo career. Even as an adult (Jaafar Jackson), his life was dominated by music. At the end of the 1970s, he met Diana Ross (Kat Graham) and producer Quincy Jones (Kendrick Sampson) while working on a film, which fundamentally changed his musical direction. The album "Off the Wall" (1979), produced by Jones, was a great success, which was surpassed in 1982 by the groundbreaking and best-selling album "Thriller". Parallel to this rise, Jackson breaks up with his father Joe, whom he dismisses as his manager and replaces with lawyer John Branca (Miles Teller).
