Mop Mop is the project of Italian multi-instrumentalist and producer Andrea Benini, who has been creating a hypnotic sound cocktail of tropical percussion, funk and vintage vibes for over two decades. His distinctive "Voodoo Jazz" combines jazz elements with Afrobeat and the cinematic soundtracks of Italian cinema from the 50s and 60s to create a unique, post-modern soundscape.

Together with his electronic trio and the charismatic voice of Trinidadian poet Anthony Joseph - whose performance is reminiscent of legends such as Gil Scott-Heron - Benini creates an atmosphere that is equally soulful, eccentric and deeply rooted in Afro-Caribbean rhythms.

While Mop Mop takes its audience on journeys to imaginary places like Sun Ra, new visions are already emerging in the studio: The formation is currently working on fresh songs that consistently continue the unmistakable, exotic groove.
