Musikalischer Spaziergang über den Südfriedhof mit Hagen Fritzsche

On September 28, 2025, the Cologne cemetery gardeners invite you to a special cemetery tour at Cologne's South Cemetery.

Together with the composer, conductor and musician Hagen Anselm Fritzsche, Günter Leitner will present a dialog of music and customs, history and cemetery culture.

Hagen Fritzsche is a well-known musician in Cologne's urban society, who can be found at processions, funerals and carnival events. In addition to his solo activities as a trumpeter, pianist, organist and accordionist, Hagen Fritzsche plays as a multi-instrumentalist in various projects, including with the Kölner Turmbläsern and the Markus Quodt Orchestra.

He also has extensive experience as a church musician.

Along the graves of Peter Müller, Henner Berzau, Karl Berbuer, Else Lang, Wilhelm Räderscheidt and many others, the participants of the tour will explore the southern cemetery on musical paths and get to know new perspectives.

In addition, gardening tips from the KurpanZimmer cemetery nursery on the correct use of plants and professional grave care will be passed on.

During the tour, the "burial gardens" will also be presented, which were opened in 2011 as an alternative burial site at the South Cemetery. The third burial ground of this type will be inaugurated shortly. There you will find professionally tended resting places, which are embedded in a varied environment and can also be reserved during your lifetime.
