Between dizzying heights and political unrest
Lecture by Maximilian & Sebastian Lehrke
Peru, hardly any other country in South America could be more diverse and culturally richer: Known as the Inca empire with countless ruined cities, deep green jungles in the interior, divided by the mysterious Andes, the longest mountain range on earth to rugged coastal regions characterized by desert and steppe.
There are many reasons why Peru is high on the bucket list of adventure enthusiasts. Nevertheless, recent political events deter many travelers from going to a country that is torn in two socio-politically and threatens to sink into chaos.
The two photographer twins Maximilian and Sebastian Lehrke set off on their own into the dizzying heights of Peru shortly after the active strikes and despite the existing travel warning. They take you on a photographically and culturally diverse journey between political corruption, social division, emotional interpersonal encounters and spectacular nature.
