NUIT DU CIRQUE // WHAT?! CLOWN, ZIRKUS & BADEWANNE

The Varieté -With commandoTaube! Frank Marshall, Daan Mackel and Cologne's only flying theater ANGELS Aerials, this evening is dedicated to comic and wondrous figures, moments and installations. Between clowning, juggling, acrobatics and vertical dance, four short stories string together to form a small, contemporary circus variety show.

An absurd love story full of clownery and acrobatics, an airy short story in which everything including performers revolves around a bathtub. Club juggling between body and geometry. Just big laughter, magical worlds and a little bit of heartbreak for all.

The artists:

ANGELS Aerials is Cologne's only theater that can fly. In Susanne Beschorner, Sibylle Hummels and Simone Kieltyka's aerial short story everything - including themselves - revolves around a bathtub. Things are told that cannot be told by other means. Because in the flying theater, the horizontal and the vertical are reversed and fool the eye until literally everything is upside down. Except for the bathtub?

commandoTaube! is the theater collective for clown theater, music, special effects ...and more. It consists of the stage designer Hedy Michels and the musician and clown Erik Werner. After their hit "The Pigeon Song", they are represented at this year's Variety for Contemporary Circus with a new character.

Daan Mackel is a juggler, performer, presenter and ensemble member of DER WEISSE KNOPF, Cologne's first freestyle theater. For this special occasion Daan develops a contemporary club juggling between body and geometry, between minimalism and magic.

Frank Marshall shows love and such. Everybody knows it. We've all been there. Big laughter, magical worlds and heartbreak in a rousing absurd love story full of clowning, acrobatics and great theater. Frank Marshall is a clown, acrobat and circus educator with projects throughout Europe. As inspiration for his works, he moves interdisciplinary between dance, theater, circus, the visual arts and music.
