Ost-West-Biografie. Schreiben über das Leben im geteilten Deutschland
In the organizer's words:
Saturday | 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
WRITING WORKSHOP
with Dr. phil. AMELIE MAHLSTEDT
For many people, life in a divided Germany and the post-reunification era continue to shape their life paths and their view of reality to this day, often unconsciously. One’s own life experience—whether in the “East” or the “West,” in the post-reunification era, and up to the present—has shaped each person individually and has shaped a particular perspective on one’s own life situation or that of others.
On the one hand, this writing workshop invites participants to reflect on what was good and what remained unresolved or unfulfilled. On the other hand, it also aims to direct our attention toward what lies ahead and requires our focus.
“For the future needs a past” (Odo Marquard)
Participants will learn effective approaches to biographical writing to transform their personal experiences into compelling, thought-provoking, or even healing stories. Through their own texts and stories, participants engage in a fruitful exchange. They learn to view their own lives and experiences with greater awareness—perhaps even in a new light—and to broaden their perspective to include other stories and viewpoints.
Facilitator: Dr. phil. AMELIE MAHLSTEDT, born in 1976, freelance author and certified facilitator for writing workshops, creative writing, and biographical work (EAG-FPI).
