In the organizer's words:
Don't judge the manner of my speech
I beseech
don't be a bitch
pardon my English.
Yossi Tsabari - Arab Jew, queer and father - lives between worlds. With spoken word, he makes visible what is often overlooked and directs our attention to the blind spots in our society. In this workshop, he goes one step further: it is about the vulnerability of writing and surviving in a language that is not one's own mother tongue.
Hear me out,
and when in doubt
Expressing your soul in a foreign language can be quite exhausting. Many people who live far from home are familiar with this constant search for the right words. In this masterclass, Yossi works with precisely this linguistic friction - and turns it into creative energy.
take into account that your ears just might get misled-
listening is an art, perfected when using the heart
instead
Yossi brings unfinished ideas, half-written texts, anger, questions or loose thoughts. He performs, talks about his writing process and helps you turn your thoughts into words that really make a difference. At the end there will be a relaxed open mic or a short reading. Come and try it out, it's not about perfection - it's about finding your own voice.
pardon my English.
