Park Stickney & Matthias Bublath
In the organizer's words:
In his Jazz Summer Week, Munich-based pianist, organist, keyboardist, and composer Matthias Bublath shares his many musical interests and the various facets of his personality with us, showcasing his remarkable versatility through a wide range of musical ensembles. Tonight, he invites an exceptional harp virtuoso onto the stage for an intense musical dialogue: New Yorker Park Stickney.
Park Stickney has pushed the boundaries of what can be played on the harp in jazz. Not only does he master a special muting technique, but he also defies supposed harmonic limitations and coaxes sounds from his instrument that, with their eyes closed, the audience would never associate with a harp. This incomparable performer will challenge pianist Matthias Bublath. We look forward to an unrestrained exchange between the two, who met at a festival in Havana. We’re eager to hear musical twists that were completely unexpected, virtuosic flourishes, and also intimate passages that make do with just a few poignant notes.
