Hammond B3 “Dream Band”

In his Jazz Summer Week, Munich-based pianist, organist, keyboardist, and composer Matthias Bublath shares his many musical interests and the various facets of his personality with us, showcasing his remarkable versatility through a wide range of musical lineups. Today, he’s bringing the good old Hammond B3 onto the stage and then making it hiss, rumble, roar, and jubilate. To provide the perfect setting for this powerful organ, he’s put together a dream band.

Featuring Cuban trumpeter Yasek Manzano from New York, vibraphonist Tim Collins, an American who has made Munich his home, and Austrian drummer Christian Lettner, Bublath aims to play music that bursts with energy, offers danceable rhythms and powerful grooves, blends the classic Hammond 3 sound with modern elements, and brings together jazz, funk, and soul.
