In the organizer's words:
A portrait of Pauline Black, lead singer of The Selecter and a pioneer of the 2-Tone movement, whose fusion of punk and ska in the turbulent late 1970s carried an unmistakable anti-racist message. Jane Mingay’s documentary sheds light on the paradox at the heart of this story: how a Black artist attracted a following that included members of skinhead and neo-Nazi subcultures—and how Pauline Black continues to carry that message to this day. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s protagonist, Pauline Black.
