In September 2018, the MHG Study was presented, the interdisciplinary research project on "Sexual abuse of minors by Catholic priests, deacons and male religious in the area of the German Bishops' Conference" .
Since then, numerous dioceses in Germany have commissioned their own studies to come to terms with the crime of sexual abuse.
The different formulations of objectives and methodological approaches of the studies show that there are currently no standards for reappraisal. Each client can decide individually whether and how to reprocess.
The aim of this conference is to critically examine the framework conditions for successful reappraisal in institutions.
Based on the experiences of church reappraisal practice, experts from different disciplines will ask what standards are necessary and who formulates and controls them. The role of the state will also be examined.
