Pop Up: MADE WHOLE // Contemporary Jewellery

CAN JEWELLERY MAKE YOU WHOLE?

For one week, Galerie Dietrich is opening its doors to an art form that sets itself apart from classical fine art, while also raising the question of why.

From April 18 to 26, we will be showing four young and international "Jewellery and Gemstone Design" students who are currently completing their Master's degree at the Idar-Oberstein campus.

Artists Statement:

"As a group of contemporary makers, we explore jewellery's abbillity to make us feel whole and complete."

Jewelry has long been a tool for personal expression, emotional connection and self-empowerment. In addition to the sparkle of gemstones and the shimmer of precious metals, it has the ability to communicate wordlessly.

Essentially, jewelry serves as a means of storytelling. Each piece carries a personal story - symbols of love, death, renewal, heritage or remembrance. Whether it is a family heirloom passed down through generations or a cherished gift, jewelry embodies memories and emotions and becomes a tangible connection to our inner selves.

As a group of contemporary artists, we explore jewelry's ability to make us feel whole and complete. Does it serve as a mirror for us as we engage with the world? Is it an expression of our individuality? Or is it a search for a sense of connection - with ourselves, with others and with the world around us.

To answer these and other questions, we cordially invite you to the opening of this extraordinary exhibition on 18.04.2024 from 6 pm! The artists will all be on site to give an insight into their work. As always, there will be delicious Nolte beer from the Ehrenfeld neighborhood.

We would like to conclude the Pop Up on 26.4.2024, also from 6 pm, with a small concert. tba
