It's funfair time. Marie and Hans have a problem between the polka, beer and popular tunes: they want to get married, but Marie has been promised to the rich Wenzel. She reacts quickly and turns the situation in her favor. Hans, on the other hand, is persuaded by a dubious matchmaker to give up Marie for 300 guilders - unaware that contracts reveal more than they hold. In 1866, Bedřich Smetana composed a comedy full of energy and unforgettable melodies to the sounds of Bohemia. A game of mistaken identity, calculation and love that combines seriousness and lightness.
