The animated filmmaker is coming to Cologne at the invitation of Prof. Isabel Herguera to present a selection of his award-winning animated films. In addition to his own artistic work, Raimund Krumme has taught at the California Institute of the Arts and from 2006 to 2016 at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.

The Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) is delighted to welcome animated filmmaker Raimund Krumme (again) to Cologne. Raimund Krumme was Professor of Experimental Animation at the KHM from 2006 to 2016. In a public evening event, he will show a selection of his animated films, which have been awarded the Prix du Jury of the Annecy International Animation Festival, the Bundesfilmpreis, the Filmband in Gold (Bonn), the Silver Dragon (Krakow) and the Grand Prix for Animation in Montreal, among others.

Passage, 1994, 6 min. - A master and his servant engage in a battle of wills as they attempt to cross a frozen lake. The Message, 2000, 6 min. - The message "He is back again!" is passed on, changes, becomes a flood of information ... | A mysterious message is passed from one person to another. "He is back again." It is not clear who he is, or what the message means, but soon it is spreading like wildfire (literally). Before long it has engulfed the entire city.
Choir of the Prisoners, 2004, 6 min. - A group of prisoners are caught by a ray of light that releases them from their rigidity, sets them in motion and leads them to freedom. | Based on a scene from Beethoven's opera Fidelio, this work tells the story of a group of prisoners who emerge from the darkness of their cells into the liberating light of day.
