Ramatou Orchestra: Autumn Dance
In the organizer's words:
“Ramatou”—that’s Wolof for “parrot.” And the music of the band of the same name is just as colorful, loud, and spirited. The Ramatou Orchestra is an eight-piece jazz ensemble from Frankfurt am Main. It blends a wide range of contemporary styles—from African influences to neo-soul, fusion, and funk—that are best described as “jazz.” Danceable grooves from a driving rhythm section, catchy melodies with varied instrumentation, unconventional arrangements, harmonious soundscapes, and spirited improvisation from all the musicians come together to create this “Ramatou sound,” that gets your hips swaying and leaves you with a smile that just won’t fade after the concert.
Featuring: Khadim Seck (percussion, flute, vocals), Linda Kufert (trombone), Leon Binder (alto saxophone), Frederich Helbing (guitar), Matthias Hoch (bass), Alexander Pechmann (piano), Nefeli Galani (viola), and Philipp Wildenhues (drums).
The opening act, the band Chevalier, plays jazz and pop music with influences from dance, hip-hop, and R&B.
