Rassismus in der klassischen deutschen Philosophie
In the organizer's words:
Many texts in the philosophical tradition contain passages that are considered racist by today's standards. Philosophy has begun to grapple with this problematic legacy. In specific cases, a careful and balanced reading is required to avoid selecting the wrong passages or rashly rejecting important insights of the tradition in general. Texts that subtly convey racist devaluations and can still have an impact today are particularly challenging. Examples will be used to highlight the challenges and pitfalls, but also the perspectives that a critical examination of this heritage can open up.
